Calm before the storm

*Back at Fas*

Patrol leader - "Sir Auorix, it has been some time"

"It has, sergeant, Fas has been still during my travels?"

PL - "Its has thankfully...that fact allows our forces to patrol areas abroad does it not?"

"Aye, you are correct. (Auorix pauses while sharpening his gladius) Sergeant...what kind of men would follow a leader whom is for order yet against the King?"

PL - (snickers) "A fool Sir" (Seeing that the expression on Auorix's face remains unchanged) "Why do you ask"

(Auorix dons his full plate armor while speaking) "I need to know what kind of men would follow leaders like this. I need to understand why they believe that their way is the only way forward. Remember our discussion on knowing your enemy? Well, a company called the Order of the Blade has claimed Tesso. If the Kings Guard is to reclaim it I will need to know whom it is we fight, why they fight, and how they fight."

PL - "Tis the same as you have done with our enemies before...why do these men bother you more than the previous ones?"

"...because their reasons are not wrong. King Conan has not been successful in every decision but we know his intentions are pure. The Order has reached the point of impatience and taken action upon themselves."

PL - "I see the difficulty." (Looks at Auorix armoring his steed) "Sir, you mean to fight them all?"

"Either one at a time or when the Commander forms up the ranks...fighting will happen. I need to judge the character of each of his men...their loyalties and skill. I cannot wait for the Commander to return to speak with her or Eevo about my actions...hand them this letter I wrote explaining my intentions. I need to do this so that we may use the information and set the tempo if things come to that."

PL - "It shall be done."

(The Huntmaster dons his helm. The light blue plume of his office neatly kept and clean standing perfectly in the helms arc. He looks to the horizon and mount the heavy warhorse.)

"If peace comes at the end of my sword after I have defeated their ranks it will be done. But if I have measured their soldiers accurately...each of their deaths will make the war that much harder to win for those who would see our lands come to order. Each death on either side is a victory for that of chaos and evil. It will only be a matter of time before we have thinned both our ranks enough to be on the verge of the enemy overwhelming us both...let us hope we come to our senses before that time comes sergeant."

*Auorix rides out of Fas towards Tesso*

PL - "Let us hope indeed"
