Just wanted to start my own thread. Wanted to say again how much I enjoyed you all. I remember the first day I heard about Age of Conan... I always loved the Conan books, and movie, and even the shows. When I heard a in-game friend on EverQuest II tell me that there was going to be an AoC, At first I admit I resented it.
I wanted to stick with EQ2 and not have my two real close in-game pals leave to AoC... It was like an ending of the RP community in EQ2 AB server (As all of OOC was talking about leaving to AoC.) and I was feeling all that gloom and doom stuff. Yeah, I know... It sucked. But then I looked into it and was like "Hey, this stuff actually looks good!"
at first AoC looked like an Online Oblivion to me! I was all for it... It actually looked amazing! I thought there'd be lots of rpers everywhere!! Then... when I went there, it was... Well, ok... But soon I got addicted to the game and remained on it. My friends from eq2 said they'd be there when they could afford a new system... Well, that never happened. LOL
Yet I did not care, AoC was just too good at the time to even want to go back. Finally, when I left aoc I tried to get back into EQ2 but honestly, AoC killed EQ2 for me... Can't even look at the graphics in eq2 without asking myself "Is THIS what I originally thought looked realistic?"
Well, in the end I start jumping MMO to MMO, trying to find one that looks good.... Recently I answered my own question in asking "How is AoC?"
Yeah... I'm sad to see a great game go down the drain... :( I hope I am wrong, that AoC will last and in a few months(YEAR) It'll end up reviving and coming back from the dead... And that the RP-PVP server Cimmeria will even have the rules inforced and that I'll see new RPers populate the area and even see the revival of old RPers.
Yeah. That would be a dream, But the chances are slim.
Oh well... Was great gaming with you fine people, I'll never forget the experiance. :)
So, where is everyone going to in 2010? Which MMO is everyone headed to? / or playing?
I'm looking at the SWOR myself.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. Most of my problems with the game are technical, or with asshole players. RP is not dead IMO... but I do more than rp. like killing and playing with the friends Ive made.
I think that maybe it will get worse before itgets better, but in the long run, the hardcore AoC fans will stay, and the elitist gamers will move on to the next big thing.
I'm not planning on going
I'm not planning on going anywhere yet. No other game on the horizon holds any interest for me.
I prefer fantasy over sf and like my fantasy gritty with no elves and gnomes, and with great graphics.
It's not perfect but nothing else holds a candle to AoC as yet, imo :) .

I agree with Kem. I think I'm gonna stick with AoC for a good long while. The 'high' fantasy stuff just doesn't hold as much appeal to me, especially after seeing what you can do with low fantasy. This game is beautiful, the RP community is thriving (if a bit divided) and I don't see any other game beating it out any time soon. But that's just my two cents :P

Well the last time I played AoC, there was not many Role-Players in sight. :( But I actually liked the game... It just needed, well, more content. I might come back, after all... I did have some good experiances with the game. If I do come back, I'll make a barb or maybe an assassin :) I doubt I can return on Cyril / Keptah... Orrr... I can return and make Cyril's son. ;)

You know? RP is very much dead on AoC Lol. I mean... I'm on Cimmeria and no one is rping. Just a server full of asshats who thinks it is cool to diss the Role-Players. :( That's not what I would've wanted to come back too.

I have WAY more RP on Cimmeria than I did on Hyper, actually. I used to RP every once in awhile with the Invicta guys,or haunt a tavern or something, looking for King's guard... Now I have a crap load of friends that just come out of the woodwork for RP. ITs great. Once you make the connections, its real easy to set up a network of friends, even without a guild. Just sayin'...
Oh! and we don't have nearly enough universal evil trying to spread around... Come back!
Role playing is alive and
Role playing is alive and well on Cimmeria. In fact, with the recent population decline, I would argue it's gotten better. While we have lost a few good rpers, the vast majority of the exodus crowd are the Bane/bloodspire people, along with the Tyranny rejects that thought they'd come to Cimmeria and clean house.
The server is starting to get that closer knit feel that Hyperborea had imo. My only issue is finding a group which would enjoy playing a more...agressive Stygian sec. While there seem to be a few guilds that like rping "evil" activity, i'm finding few that want to back up thier actions with pvp, creating a larger more dynamic conflict.
Looking for a few good villans to roll with :)

I'm playing Darkfall ;P Now I'm not going to try and say it's better than AoC, RP there right now is almsot non-existant atm. I miss AoC RP and RP in general a lot :(
I can elaborate later or I'll post in my blog, but short story is: just 1 server for the game is BAD. Community full of hackers and hardcore 24/7 macroers. But there are RPers too, and great ones at that. We are waiting (I'm with Order of the Blade) for NA1 to come out to get a fresh start, we did play and it was great fun but also lots of stress. Anyways, for me, Darkfall offers way more than AoC. It gives me freedom AoC never had. It is much harder to play though mind you and if you stick with it and get over all the deaths and asshats it makes you rougher/tougher. *sigh* Haha
Anyhow, Darkfall for me, with possibly looking into Mortal Online (trying to get into beta). And of course trying to RP on NA1 as much as I can. It'll be a slow process especially there but hell! And I'm going to be evil, tired of bottling it up ;P *wink at Neverlin*
I also have an idea for my RP in Darkfall on NA1, so if by chance anyone who's trying out that game sees this, message me I'll fill you in ;) It's not about 'join our guild', it's just what I'm going to RP and you can find me in-game. But of couuurse, if you want you can join the guild %) :P Numbers are power in DF, esp. as far as holding a city goes (Now cities in there are ... man.)
My DF name is 'Morgaine Dren' right now (I am trying out all races, deleted my main char on EU1). My name in NA1 is undecided yet.
Oh yeah some of you keep saying how they don't like elf/dwarf fantasy. *shrug* Personally it doesn't add 'silly' feeling to the wolrd at all. THe world is huge, and beautiful, and all those races look exotic and impressive each in their own way. But I understand the difference and why some may be unwilling to even consider, esp. if they have AoC - and for RP AoC is perfect with its no game contents and pretty graphics :P (did they add any good contents? crafting makes sense/city building? or still same old 'useless'?).
