Tesso bridge fight

*Auorix stood before the Blade Lord on the bridge, gazing deeply into his heavy visage*

"Lord Amunsol...we have business to finish"

Yet the words came out slowly. They felt tainted. For the moment Auorix stood facing the small band of 4 from the Order. But this time he knew a little about the men serving their Lord.

The younger Squire, Tartarus. We and Allen had crossed swords for a brief moment in the skrimish just minutes ago near the center of town. Yet I see him now, a bead of sweat down the side of his face..hand on his blade. If his liege twitched towards engagement, his blade would be instantly behind it.

Scouting

*Slowly riding back to Tesso from Fas, the fortress of the Kings Guard in Poitain*

It was a hollow victory last time I was in Tesso...and I had missed most of the combat with the Order last there in the city. The reports were a small contingent of the Blade against one of our larger patrols which had been in the area on our rounds.

The patrol areas are far too large for the number of guardsmen we have. Our poor horses have their shoes worn down quicker than we can mine the ore it seems sometimes.

Calm before the storm

*Back at Fas*

Patrol leader - "Sir Auorix, it has been some time"

"It has, sergeant, Fas has been still during my travels?"

PL - "Its has thankfully...that fact allows our forces to patrol areas abroad does it not?"

"Aye, you are correct. (Auorix pauses while sharpening his gladius) Sergeant...what kind of men would follow a leader whom is for order yet against the King?"

PL - (snickers) "A fool Sir" (Seeing that the expression on Auorix's face remains unchanged) "Why do you ask"

The aftermath

Auorix pondered a moment under the setting sun in Kheshatta at the bottom of the long steps leading to the heart of the city.

Lord Amunsol had mentioned the guard failed to defend Tesso and that their order had reestablished control of the town.

Had I been in these forsaken lands that long that our once hub of patrol success had fallen so badly.

I must ride to Tesso this evening and assess the situation for myself. I am sure there are guardsmen still there at one of our outpost on the outskirts of the town recovering.

*grasping the medallion around his neck, Sir Auorix Engel, Huntmaster of the Kings Guard allows the power of that ancient tool to flow through his body and returns to his homeland*

*Riding from the Guardsmen stables in Old Tarantia*

Lord Amunsol had been on the verge of loosing control when we spoke. It was not until half an hour had passed that his knuckles finally were no longer white from his tightly clenched fist.

Unlikely outcomes

*Auorix sends out the carrier bird with the note to the Order of the Blade explaining to instruct the Order and its allies to not attack him on sight upon receipt. He is no longer a member of the King's Guard*

*Fearing the bird would fail at its task, he set out to pass the word to the proper authorities personally*

[Auorix]: I was told I might find you here
[Auorix]: Forgive me for disturbing you
[Amunsol]: Ah yes, Sir Engel.
[Amunsol]: Please, have a seat.
[Auorix]: I had to make sure my note was received
[Auorix]: Thank you
[Amunsol]: Not at all, I was expecting you, actually
[Amunsol]: I am sorry if you are not accustomed to Stygian ways, and may find the seating arrengements difficult at first.
[Auorix]: I have had campaigns in your lands before Lord Blade. I have my old armor on from those days as well since I have lost the plate of the guardsman
[Auorix]: It is appropriate for fighting in these climates

Death of chivalry

A meeting of the officers of the King's Guard in the Armsmen Tavern after the murders last night as witnessed by the staff and patrons.((Sat night))

[Thorious]: Auorix...
[Auorix]: Have I no trust from my own order?
[Auorix]: Forget a moment they were Order of the Blade...what would you say if I told you I defended men from being murdered in the streets?
[Thorious]: Forget that they are order of the blade?
[Thorious]: These are enemies... who are on the attack on sight list by the command of Challa
[Auorix]: Yes, would it be so wrong or uncommon of me to tell you on any given night I defended the innocent?
[Thorious]: By the the command of our king.
[Thorious]: Your saying they are innocent?
[Auorix]: Our King still honors a banner of diplomacy Thorious
[Thorious]: Tell me what happened.
[Auorix]: No, I am not in the least implying they are innocent...I am making a comparrison

Impersonal defeat

I arrived in the noble district to see Vatora being attacked by the Order. I charged into the fray and dispatched one of the assailants with her aid. We regrouped with another, and the three of us approached the Armsman. I saw our force was now outnumbered.

I had sped as fast as possible when the call to arms reached my ears. I arrived after our forces had to withdrawl. I saw disorder in the streets and no law being enforced. Below me were the banners and colors of the Deathlords, Midnight Brigade, and the Order of the Blade. there might have been one or two liasons from other companies but nothing more.

My first thought was, what a unlikely bunch to have together against our forces...but I dismissed that thought as it mattered little. Seems ends must be met despite their means.
