Roleplayers Unite!
Its very rare that I'll use haven as a platform to try to achieve change at FunCom, but this is something I feel significantly about to try to make some noise.
FunCom has announced its first server merge in this thread. Its to be Hyperborea (PvP-RP) and Bloodspire (PvP). No word yet on whether they're tossing the RP rules set out of the window or are going to try to force PvPers to operate under the RP rules set.
Either way, this is the absolute worst scenario and one that I long claimed FunCom wouldn't be stupid enough to make. The claim is that Hyperborea and Bloodspire are both Oceanic servers... though frankly, I don't think most Oceanic players chose their servers based on this information (or rerolled elsewhere when they realized the population is low).
Now, they are offering free character transfers... problem there is that there's no assurance on whether Cimmeria is going to be merged with a PvP server as well, so those that transfer because of this may end up in the same boat in a week or two.
I'm hoping its not too late to convince FunCom of the folly of this decision.
So I'm asking you, the roleplayers of Hyperborea (and Cimmeria, for those of you who have drifted here), to head to that thread above and make your opinion known! The more folks who object to the decision made, the higher the chance, however slim, FunCom might be swayed.

Obviously, I'm opposed to merging Hyperborea with a PvP server. But in the end, I don't have much cause to ask people to write in support of that if they don't agree with me. I'd rather people post what they want to see happen individually, even those who might disagree with me. If the vast majority of Hyperboreans want to merge with a PvP server, then it is very much what FunCom should do, regardless of my feelings on it. I suspect, though, that most of us would prefer they didn't.

anyway my opinion is this blows. I can understand all the whys and motivations. I think it helps protect the Laeris perspective and plot lines will remain in tact. Again what it doesnt give us is a bigger RP community. I for one was fucking sick of being the only stygian guild of any size and really looking forward to meeting the hand of Set and D&d to give invicta, M&M and KG the what fore :)
Now all those hopes are dashed. But what can we really say? Merge us with Cimmeria please? They will say we are offering a character transfer if you prefer. I think the time for sharings of opinions have come and gone personally.

Not saying it'll happen... I know its extremely unlikely. But I ain't giving up until it does.

yeah I know you dont give up easily. But if you want to make an impact you may consider straddling the grey line of impartiality and organizing a proper petition with a clear goal. S'all Im sayin.
state what you would want to have happen. Get everyone in hyper that agrees to sign and promo it. If anyone is properly positioned to do so its you.

If Hyperborea and Bloodspire merges and then we become a PvP server... i know that me, my brother, my friends, and my GF are leaving this game, and all going back to CoH/V or EQ2.

With the amount of time we have to make our voices known, I'm kinda considering the thread above to be our petition to Funcom. Starting a new thread specifically for a petition is just going to invite discussion in two different places instead of one, potentially muddying the waters.

Community is the be all to
Community is the be all to end all. Graphics, gameplay, all that stuff, it's all just the icing on the cake. Every once in a while I take a look back here, and even back at the old Hyperborea forums, and I suppose it's partly because I'm trying to convince myself to come back. The community was at a certain time, the best thing going for Age of Conan--now, it looks like Funcom has decided to scuttle the remainder of what made the game enjoyable to people like me. I'm sure by now the people that will be reading this have already read enough doom and gloom posts, so I won't bore you with any more.
I will say this--as someone who left for other stuff but keeping a watchful eye for a reason to come back, it's frustrating to see it constantly moving in the opposite direction.

I'm a firm believer in hope. I get down and my hubby has to point it out to me again. He says bitter doesn't suit well on me ( hugs to rel ) .
But in between all the OMG wth crack is funcom on. I am starting to belive again. There is always hope, voicing our opinions in the merge thread seems to have produced some much more positive feedback from Famine. He has actually stated thre WILL still be a rp server. We just don't know where it will be. Cimmeria is reaching out to us.
Bloodspire is reaching out to us. TheseARE AWESOME THINGS! at first I was waivering listening to folks saying it's over this sucks. Yes I beileved them. But perhaps .. just maybe with all hope we can make this work wether on bloodspire or on Cimmeria.
Through all our bitching and negativity in the past ( which is not necessarily bad all families fight at some point :) --- perhaps this shit we were handed by funcom will finally let us see the GREAT things in our little community. I hope we can all see how absolutely lucky we are to have what WE created.
Let's try and do that stick together. If we stay on Bloodspire let it survive no matter what.
If we move to Cimmeria. I say let's help change them. make a new stronger, better community. We are global rpers. We mix it up . Now before I start dolling out the hugs and forget myself and accidently hug satetka LOL I"ll leave with that :)

I know that my clan have discussed it and we are an RP guild damn it! So yeah, lets unite and tell FC to leave our RP tag on. Them to take that away would be like sending a PvE server to a PvP server and making them deal with it.
