The Captain
Vepgenus was originally born in the cold harsh lands of Cimmeria. After a devastating raid by the Vanir that destroyed most of his extended family Vepgenus’ father decided it was time to leave Cimmeria for good, even though Vepgenus’ mother was sad to leave her homeland she went along willingly, the family was smuggled (at a steep price) into Northern Aquilonia where they set up a homestead.
The Commander
Veronius was born in the upper noble class of Stygia, before the coup of Thoth Amon that overthrew the last king of Stygia. Veronius’ father was a staunch follower of Ilbis. Veronius spent much of his youth in Aquilonia as his father was the official ambassador to Aquilonia. While in Aquilonia Veronius studied in the finest schools Aquilonia had to offer. At the age of fourteen Veronius’ father was recalled to Stygia as political turmoil began to erupt. Soon the king was overthrown and Thoth Amon took power. Immediately the purge of all political enemies began. Veronius’ father and sister were killed in this purge, luckily his mother was able to escape northwards to Aquilonia where both Veronius and his mother were housed amongst the nobles of Aquilonia. Veronius continued his studies, and at the age of seventeen was admitted into the officer corps of the Aquilonian army.
Formation of the Watcher
The Armsman Tavern was empty, yet the small party still decided on sitting in a corner away from any prying eyes. Tiena sat first, and then Vepgenus followed by Veronius. There was audible tension in the air and it was directed between Vepgenus and Veronius. Veronius leaned back in his chair looking Vepgenus in the eye.
“Listen it was an order given from the top, had you received the order you would have done the same thing would you not?” Veronius asked no apparent emotion on his face. Vepgenus took a moment to answer then softly shook his head.
“ I suppose not,” He responded with a sigh.
“ Let the past be the past,” Tiena interjected looking at the two soldiers. Veronius nodded and Vepgenus nodded as well.
“ We are here for a common purpose,” Veronius said taking out a piece of parchment. The three looked at the paper for a while before Veronius stirred again.
